Farmway Coop/AgMark Expo

Dusti Fritz, USCP Western States Field Services Director, represented the USCP at the Farmway Coop/AgMark Expo in Beloit, Kansas on December 15, 2009. At the Expo, all divisions of Farmway and AgMark had displays as well as a number of other vendors from allied industry. Dusti Fritz set up and manned the USCP booth, and talked with producers at the Expo. Dusti hosted an informational session about the Sorghum Checkoff and the progress being made in the sorghum industry. A few recently approved projects include efforts to continue identifying drought and cold tolerant genes in sorghum, and developing new testing methods for pests such as headworm. Dusti reported that she learned that harvest in that area doubled the expectations and estimates of what Farmway Coop thought they would take in this year.  This prompted some discussions about potential markets for sorghum.
