Sorghum is exported primarily to Mexico, but expansion in South America, Africa and the Far East are immediate marketing goals of the United Sorghum Checkoff Program. The Sorghum Checkoff helps to facilitate marketing relationships around the world that will benefit sorghum growers throughout the U.S.
To that end, USCP works in conjunction with the U.S. Grains Council to explore and develop overseas markets for sorghum. Checkoff dollars support general activities of the Council as well as a full-time USGC employee whose primary responsibility is to expand sorghum markets. The Sorghum Checkoff and the Council have brought two international buyers missions from Mexico and one from Saudi Arabia just this year. USCP offers international visitors a wealth of information to point international grains customers to sorghum and its co-products.
