Calling All Foodies: Enter the 2015 Sorghum Recipe Showdown



If you have a knack for cooking, baking and using new ingredients or you just love sorghum, put your skills to the test in the first ever Sorghum Recipe Showdown for the chance to win $500 plus other cool prizes.

With the increasing interest in sorghum as a food product, the Sorghum Checkoff is asking people across the country to whip up their best recipes that appeal to the home cook while demonstrating the benefits and versatility of cooking with sorghum.

Foodies can indulge in sorghum's uniqueness by utilizing one of sorghum's various forms including whole or pearled grain sorghum, sorghum syrup, sorghum flour, popped sorghum, flaked sorghum or sorghum bran. For inspiration to get started, view the recipes on our website and Pinterest.

If you're up for the challenge, simply go to SorghumShowdown.com, fill out the entry form with your original recipe, instructions, ingredients, recipe name and a brief description. Have more than one recipe idea? No worries, participants can submit up to three recipes. Email your entry forms and a high resolution photo to info@sorghumcheckoff.com by 5 p.m. ET on July 31, 2015. Alternatively, enter the contest by pinning your recipes and photos with the tag #tastesorghum in the description.

Three lucky winners with be announced September 1, 2015. The grand prize winner will receive a $500 cash prize, second place will receive a custom engraved cast-iron Dutch oven and third place will receive a Sorghum: The Smart Choice® apron.
