Ever tasted sorghum before? Whether you have cooked it at home or this is the first time you've heard about it, sorghum is an ancient, delicious and nutritious whole grain you should consider incorporating into your family’s diet.
What better way to explore sorghum’s beautiful versatility than by helping us celebrate sorghum as the Whole Grains Council grain of the month.
Sorghum is an all-American grown crop that is naturally gluten-free and non-genetically modified, and best of all, it's good for the environment, too. While food-grade sorghum currently only comprises two percent of the U.S. grain sorghum market, opportunities are booming due to sorghum’s inherent attributes that make it the smart choice for all consumers.
Throughout the month of June, tune into the Sorghum Checkoff’s Facebook, Twitter and website to learn more about what sorghum offers. During the first week, we will be exploring how to cook sorghum, both grain and flour. In week two, we will discover all of the attributes that make sorghum a nutritious option in your diet. Week three will unveil sorghum’s versatility as a food product and the end-users who already utilize sorghum in their products. During the last week of June, we will celebrate our farmers who work diligently to provide sorghum as a viable food option for consumers around the world.

Another way to celebrate sorghum later this month is by entering our first ever Sorghum Recipe Contest. As sorghum is becoming increasingly popular at grocery stores, restaurants and among nutritionists, we want to see how you incorporate sorghum into your dishes at home.
