  • 1 cup whole grain sorghum, raw
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cup water or stock of choice
  • 1 teaspoon salt


  1. In a coffee grinder, grind the raw sorghum until a gritty dusty texture.
  2. Bring milk and water or stock to a boil. Turn the temperature down to medium –low heat and add the salt and grits. Slowly stir every 5 to ten minutes so it does not get stuck on the bottom of the pan. Continue to cook this way for 30 minutes.
